About Embroidery: Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric or other materials with needle and thread or yarn. It is one of the oldest textile art forms and has been practiced all over the world for thousands of years. Throughout history, embroidery has been a way for individuals to express their creativity and add their own personal touch to art, gifts, clothing, and everyday items.

About The Instructor: Celina Coppetti a designer and artist based in Portland, Oregon and her passion for embroidery is contagious and inspiring. In 2017, she graduated from Pacific Northwest College of Art with a MFA in Collaborative Design (Systems Design), and has been making waves in the creative community ever since. She is an artist who is deeply inspired by rituals, nature, travel, and our quest for personal growth and freedom. Her work is a reflection of the vibrant world around her, full of playful and curious energy. Celina can't wait to help you discover the joy and magic of embroidery for yourself!

Holiday Shibori Workshop

I've been thinking about the holidays for longer than I should admit and now it's actually appropriate to talk about it SO I'll be hosting a virtual shibori/indigo dying workshop next Sunday for those of you who like to make home made gifts for your friends (or for yourself 😉).

This class is the first in a series of workshops as part of an arts collective I've been dreaming up for a long time, and I'm so excited to share this beginning phase with you!

MATERIALS:

  • Jacquard Indigo Tie Dye Kit (Amazon, Blick, Walmart, JoAnn's)

  • Your kit should include rubber bands, wooden popsicle sticks, clothes pins or wood blocks. Feel free to grab whatever household items you have as well - I like to use clamps on mine.

  • 5 gallon bucket (or similar) for dye bath

  • Any fabric of your choice (i.e. socks, shirts, napkins, pillow cases, tea towels, etc.)
